| Screen Technology Group PLC, a
specialist provider of display solutions, has launched
ITrans, the next generation of large screen display
technology, as the perfect solution for railway terminal
display screens.
ITrans is the world’s first and only technology
to provide both high definition moving video quality
images and clear information on large screens, which
can be viewed, without image distortion or reduced visibility,
from any distance and across a wide angle of view. Offering
an optical design that provides more than three times
the number of pixels per unit area than the highest
quality LEDs, ITrans eliminates sub-pixellation and
image break-up associated with current display formats
such as LEDs when viewed too close.
With increased pressure for rail operators to provide
a better experience for their customers, including improved
environments and quality signage and travel information,
the ITrans technology has the capabilities to provide
large screen display solutions with the required characteristics
to provide crystal clear images and information. Typical
screen sizes range from 68 to 200+ inches for standard
screen formats, but can be built in a wide range of
shapes and formats, including horizontal or vertical
banner displays to give designers a previously undreamt
scope for imaginative use of display media.
Andy Holmes, Commercial Director at Screen Technology,
comments, “Rail stations are becoming increasingly
well lit environments in the drive to make a better
atmosphere for passengers, but this sets challenging
requirements for electronic displays such as travel
information, signage and promotional material.
“These can be difficult to view in high ambient
light and until now rail operators have had to make
do with low quality, large displays that can only be
viewed from a distance or displays that can’t
show detail or video. ITrans offers the perfect solution,
particularly for operators that use shopping areas to
generate additional revenue from advertising. The technology
delivers large screen displays that can show clear imagery
with resolution equivalent to printed posters or TV
and can quite easily display advertising and travel
information simultaneously.”
ITrans displays are made from tiles, seamlessly butted
together to make essentially any rectilinear shape or
size. Current display screens, comparable in price with
6mm LED displays, have a 1.7mm pixel size to provide
high resolution, full colour video and excellent image
quality over a range of distances.
