Peter Smyth
Non Executive Chairman

Peter Smyth has a total of 16 years experience running four companies in the outdoor advertising business, including 3 years as Managing Director of Clear Channel UK Ltd. He is Chairman of media technology company Cityspace Ltd. He is also Senior Independent Director and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee of Cardpoint plc, an AIM listed independent deployer of remote ATM’s and helped steer the business through a successful flotation in May 2002. Peter joined the Board Screen Technology in May 2005.

 

Tom Jarman
Chief Executive Officer

Tom Jarman was appointed as CEO in April 2006. Tom has been actively involved with Screen Technology as a Non-Executive Director since 2001 and is now dedicated full time to the business as CEO.

Tom qualified as a Chartered Engineer from Oxford and Cambridge Universities, and then spent ten years with Renishaw Metrology where he was responsible for introducing breakthrough optical and electro-mechanical products to world markets. His career has included spells as Development, Sales and Marketing Directors with various international technology businesses. Tom was also Managing Director of a leading retail technology business where he led substantial growth and returns for its venture capital backers. Prior to Screen Technology, Tom was a Senior Partner at MTI, a leading early stage technology VC.

 

Chris Hanson
Interim Chief Financial Officer

Chris Hanson has been appointed as Screen Technology’s interim Chief Financial Officer. Qualified as an accountant in 1982, Chris has extensive experience as a Finance Director having held positions with public companies including Parkland Group plc and JWE Telecom. Chris is also a former Finance Director and Chief Operating Officer of Cardpoint plc, and also spent 13 years with KPMG.

 

Kevin Gate

In 1985 Mr. Gate became founder Director of Avon Leisure (Bath) Limited and transformed the company from a small proprietary business to a charter boat business well known in the West Country. Between 1994 and1996 he negotiated the purchase of Anglo Welsh Waterways Holiday business from Barclaycard and brought the company back into profitability within one year. From 1999 he embarked on a career as a corporate finance adviser with Icon Corporate Finance and since 2004 has continued as an independent consultant for the company “Gate Minds Ltd”.

Mr. Gate has over twenty five years’ experience of running companies from start up to pre-IPO and exit, and approximately seven years corporate finance advice leading and closing around 30 transactions in the technology sector. Additionally, he has hands on experience of change management in the Leisure, Telecommunications and IT sectors and an impressive track record of maximising shareholder value, often in very difficult circumstances. Mr. Gate joined the Scaent Group in 2007 in a global role as Group Chief Financial Officer.

 

Derek McLennan

After serving in the Armed Forces and a period of further education in 1994 Mr McLennan joined TBA Ltd, as operations Director, a software development company which won several national business awards. In 1999 he was appointed Managing Director of Steel Monkeys Ltd, a video games company, where he successfully negotiated several licensed deals and contracts with BBC Worldwide, MGM, General Motors, Take Two Inc., Electronic Arts Inc. and West McLaren Mercedes Racing. This company won several national and international awards for its products. Between 2004 and 2005 Mr. McLennan held various positions within the Unitrade Group, including General Manager, General Director and Managing Director. During this time he also served as an Executive Director on the Board of Scaent AB.

In 2005 he was appointed to the global position of Executive Vice President and Board Member of the Scaent Group and was tasked with the complete global restructuring of the Group companies and projects. This was completed successfully in late 2007 and contributed greatly to the Group’s 500% increase in turnover over the three year period. Mr. McLennan sits on the boards of many Scaent Group subsidiary companies and has a BBA Degree in Business Administration. He is also a Member of the United Kingdom Institute of Directors.

Dr Paul Bayley
Chief Technical Officer

Paul Bayley is responsible for the technical development of ITrans and has worked for Screen Technology since 1996. He received a BEng degree in Electronic Materials Engineering in 1992 a PhD in 1996 from Swansea University and is a member of the institute of Physics and the Society for Information Display. Paul led the development of the ITrans concept from the outset to its current production status.

 

Dr Niall Gallen
Chief Optical Engineer

Niall Gallen is a talented, innovative and committed optical designer who is responsible for the design of the ITrans optics and backlights. He received a BA in Physics at Trinity College Dublin in 1990, an MSc in Optoelectronics at Queen's University Belfast in 1991, where his project was on the characterisation of a spatial light modulator, and a PhD in 1996 from Sussex University for his work on the spectroscopy of transition metal ions in ion implanted dielectric waveguides.

 

Alex Suszko
Production Director

Alex Suszko has over 25 years manufacturing experience within the industrial sector both in the UK and overseas. He has worked with major multi-national corporations, including IBM and Selectron in the US and the Far East, and has extensive experience in establishing manufacturing operations. He has implemented six sigma lean manufacturing techniques along with 5s principles in manufacturing operations throughout the world. He joined Screen Technology in December 2005.
