How much does ITrans® magnify the image?
ITrans is designed to magnify the image from
the LCD by an amount sufficient to make it larger than the bezel,
allowing standard displays to be tiled. It is beneficial for luminance
to use the minimum magnification possible.

Does ITrans® work with standard
LCD pixel sizes?
ITrans is designed to work using standard LCDs.
ITrans forms the larger pixels required for large screen displays
by using an array of LCD pixels for each ITrans pixel. This has
the benefits of:
• making LCDs pixel defects invisible
• giving additional greyscale and/or scope for gamma correction
In the longer term there are benefits for some applications in having
a customised LCD with larger pixels made for ITrans.

What is the minimum pixel size for ITrans®?
ITrans technology is designed to work for display
sizes larger than monolithic displays. For most purposes this means
that the minimum required pixel size is approximately 1mm. The first
products have a pixel pitch of 1.7mm since this fits the first market
applications best. Smaller pixel sizes down to 1.3mm will follow
when there is sufficient demand. The minimum feasible pixel size
is expected to be about 0.6mm which is set by the limits of the
manufacturing process.

Can the screen gain of ITrans® be adjusted to meet
particular requirements?
Yes.

What display panel size does ITrans®
work with?
ITrans works most effectively with notebook
or monitor size display panels. Initial products use 15" TFT LCD
panels. For more information, please contact
us.

What effect does ITrans® have
on reliability?
ITrans arrays are passive components made from
materials with proven reliability. LCD and backlight reliability
is proven. ITrans is expected to have the same reliability as LCDs.

Is Screen Technology still working on PLLCD?
No. ITrans has much better performance than
PLLCD.

What does an ITrans® display
weigh?
ITrans weighs from 65-85 kg/sq.m (N.B. a wide
screen format 60 inch display is 1 sq.m.)

How much does an ITrans®
display cost?
The pricing for ITrans depends on the detailed
specification and the volume of the order. Please contact Andy Holmes for a quotation.

How much does it cost to make ITrans®
under licence?
Screen Technology has a number of different
licences for customers wanting to manufacture ITrans arrays or modules.
Please contact us with your requirements.
The investment required in manufacturing equipment for ITrans arrays
is very low compared to flat panel display manufacturing. The manufacturing
process is modular and is designed for phased investment. This allows
scale up of manufacture to be largely self-funded.
