Aim listed Screen Technology has
been selected by media owner and sales house Digital
Screen Networks (DSN) to provide its world leading large
format displays to Virgin Retail’s Megastores
throughout the UK.
Following the success of the initial installation all
sixteen of Virgin Retail’s Megastores are scheduled
to have a Screen Technology ITrans digital display in
their windows by the end of February2007.

The screen roll-out programme has already begun with
Virgin Retail’s flagship music stores in London
(Piccadilly) Birmingham and Manchester already hosting
the first screens. An estimated 460,000 people pass
Virgin Retail’s London Piccadilly store each week.
The 63 inch screens will be positioned in the windows
of the Virgin Megastores to attract the attention of
passers by and DSN is making the screens available to
advertisers. The network has already attracted the attention
of Microsoft’s X-Box, Sony Pictures, Universal
Music and EMI.
Barry Humphreys MD of DSN added: “We are very
excited to be working with Virgin Retail which is the
first retailer in the country to be using this type
of high impact display in its stores. The dynamic images
and sound capability are attracting the attention of
consumers and advertisers alike.
“Initial feedback from staff and customers has
been very positive. The screen images are very striking
and are proving a great talking point.”
The main feature of the displays is ITrans, the technology
behind the screens which delivers high quality images
with intense colour saturation and pin sharp clarity.
The eye catching images can be seen clearly even in
full daylight and from a distance.
Commenting, Tom Jarman, Screen Technology’s CEO
said: “This relationship with DSN and through
them, Virgin Retail, represents a major step forward
for the company.’
“Our market leading display technology gives
Virgin Retail a competitive advantage among other music
retailers in a highly competitive market place.”
An additional attraction for customers is that the
images on the screens are accompanied by sound. This
is made possible by a technological development called
Whispering Windows, which turns the surface of a store
window into a massive sound radiator.
